TOO MANY BATTLES

Too many battles along life’s trails.
To many trials with too many fails.
This eventually erodes the resilience that we need
to deal with most of life’s uncertainties.

It doesn’t hurt to loose just a few.
We can usually recover and start anew.
But once in a while you will see
someone who has lost just one too many.

Each new encounter can produce a small loss.
As the number of losses add up over time,
this will cause some of us to lose our minds.

Then we become focused too much on the battle.
We too often bark when we are rattled.
We are always on the defense against hostility,
and this new demeanor overwhelms
our normal personality.

We begin to bark and snap at the slightest misgiving.
Hatred now controls all of our thinking.
It takes only a small push to send our heads spinning
into a downward spiral,
with dark thoughts of never winning.

So have sympathy and help us before it’s too late.
Do something of kindness that we will appreciate.
Please! Never mention these despicable words to us.
