About the Book

Book Four in the series Meanderings in Medical History contains seventeen essays about various subjects pertaining to medical history. Each vignette was prompted by something that was relevant to my professional or personal experience. The emphasis is on narrative history, stories of physicians at different times and places. As historian Allan Nevins (no relation) once wrote, “History should be enjoyed, not endured.”

About the Author

Michael Nevins is a retired physician who practiced internal medicine and cardiology in northern New Jersey for nearly four decades. He is past president of the Medical History Society of New Jersey and in 2010 received that organization’s David L. Cowen Award in recognition of career activities in the field of medical history. This, his twelfth book, is the last of a quartet of collected essays called Meanderings in Medical History.
