About the Book
Around the world, in many cultures, there are grandparents who raise their grandkids. These grandparents have stepped into the role of parents, stepping up when their grandchildren needed them the most—sometimes when the children’s parents are unable or unwilling to do so. A Grandmother’s Love seeks to let them know that they are not alone and to communicate to grandchildren that they are blessings to their grandparents’ hearts. Author Sherita Brown describes three Colorado grandmothers—herself among them—who have stood in the gap for one another, helping raise their grandchildren together. Grandparents take pride in passing down wisdom and knowledge, can find joy in learning from younger perspectives, and are valuable to their grandkids’ futures and their lives. Sometimes grandparents may feel robbed of their roles because they must take over disciplining the child as the parent should. But in this way, they can grant their grandchildren better lives, better education, and the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. This inspirational personal narrative of grandmotherly love shares one woman’s family history and offers connection to grandparents raising their grandchildren.
