About the Author
Dr. Kimberly Pinckney is a seasoned educator, community psychologist, and advocate for emotional intelligence and behavioral change. With over 26 years of experience working for the State of Illinois and a robust academic background, Dr. Kim holds a master’s degree in Human Development Psychology and a Ph.D. in Community Psychology, both from National Louis University. She has taught psychology at Chicago State University and National Louis University, specializing in courses such as Psychology 101, Social Psychology, Emotional Intelligence, and the History and Systems of Psychology. Dr. Kim’s first book, When She’s Mad, was a groundbreaking research project exploring men’s perceptions of women as perpetrators of emotional abuse. Using a mixed-method approach, she interviewed 100 men, offering deep insights into the often-overlooked dynamics of emotional abuse from a male perspective. This research set the stage for her continued work in emotional intelligence and behavioral transformation. Throughout her career, Dr. Kim has hosted numerous workshops at HBCUs, the International Association of Women (IAW), and on radio programs such as “A Time for Inspiration” and the “AC Green Show.” In addition, Dr. Kim assisted with the development of a curriculum through Adler University for a nonprofit organization, the Youth Peace Ambassadors Program, which focuses on emotional intelligence and empowering individuals to transform their lives through self-awareness and emotional growth. Her teaching and advocacy are rooted in her belief that true change begins with a shift in perception, guided by her favorite quote from the late Dr. Wayne Dyer: “If you change the way you look at things, the things around you will change.” Dr. Kim’s latest book, Emotional Intelligence Transformation, offers further insights and tools for harnessing emotional intelligence to navigate life’s challenges and unlock personal potential. She resides in Illinois with her amazing husband and is the proud mother of two incredible adult daughters. Dr. Kim continues to inspire change in her community and beyond through her writing, teaching, and advocacy.
