About the Author

The Author was born in Livingston, Montana on Febuary 10, 1949. The family moved shortly thereafter to Spokane, Washington where he would start his school years with the first years at Sacred Heart parochial grade school then on to Saint Peter’s parochial school through the eighth grade. Finally graduating from Ferris High school. He attended Eastern Washington State College, graduating in the early 70’s when he and his wife to be Jean Rake moved to Denver, Colorado to pursue a carreer in the printing industry. After nearly 5 years working in the trades Auerbach established a retail business on the outskirts of Denver selling and installing wood burning stoves. After five years in business he decided to travel and joined the Peace Corps with wife Jean in November of 1982. They sucessfully completed two years service in Western Samoa in the South Pacific. They traveled extensively in the southern hemisphere for 4 months. Upon their return to the USA Robert joined his college friends in an engineering firm, selling and designing conveyor equipment for the grain and other industries in Eastern Washington. After a 23 year career with the firm Jean and Bob were ready for more development work and they persued and got a second two year volunteer position in Madagascar. After a successful completion of the contract they traveled in Africa and Eastern Europe for a five month period. Now living in Medical Lake, Washington Mr. Auerbach spends many months traveling through Latin America and Europe with wife Jean. This is his first book but he plans to do other memoirs in the field of development work and travel.
