Bill Noel began writing his first novel at 59 years old and has published a total of eight books in his Folly Beach Mystery series with iUniverse since. Positive feedback from his readers motivated him to continue writing and publishing. Readers describe his books as “perfect beach reads” where they can drift off and get away from the world for a moment. “If that’s the case,” says Noel, “then I’ve been successful.”
Self-publishing Offers Control, Flexibility and Speed-to-market
Noel was drawn toward self-publishing with iUniverse for several reasons, including the importance of controlling his books’ content and cover design. Flexibility was also a deciding factor. For example, editing was encouraged and readily available through iUniverse, but it was not required like it is for traditional publishers.
Plus, speed to market influenced his decision. His books were published quickly when compared to a traditional publisher’s timeline.
Noel is on his eighth published novel since 2008. The Pier, the second installment of his series, received the Editor’s Choice award.
