Medea finished her prayers and bowed her head for a few seconds before she allowed herself to again be hypnotized by the tiny flickers of fire that rippled shadows across her solemn, determined face. She wet her lips with her tongue, unconscious of her action. She thought of him, the one she was focused on, the one who stirred her to begin a reluctant caressing of her own body as the candles relentlessly burned down, one by one. She touched herself, and groaned, then touched herself again. It would be good to have him touch her, and to touch him in return. She had to go slowly, and carefully. This would not be an easy thing, and it would be at once a fragile and violent and dangerous and exhilarating experience if she approached it with fortitude, and with complete dedication. There was too much at stake to brook any mistakes on her part, or on theirs. She lost all coherent thought as her slim hands massaged and stroked and explored her warm, bare flesh. She had no idea of what time had passed––a minute? An hour? Then she exploded and cried out, and collapsed on the floor in front of the altar, breathing heavily, and crying and laughing all at once. It will be so sweet, she thought, as she took the ritual stilon lying in front of the altar, sliced a finger on her left hand, and tasted the warm, life-giving blood as her eyes fluttered closed.
