About the Book
On the Wings of a Dove is a compilation of poems designed to stimulate an appreciation for the simple blessings we oft times take for granted because of the havoc and chaos that surrounds us in our daily lives here on this earth.
The dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit and represents simplicity, gentleness, divine guidance, marital affection, and the deepest kind of peace. Its wings exemplify the Love of God and God’s forgiveness. The dove’s unadorned and striking white image provides us with an ever-present reminder that there is always hope when there is faith in our Heavenly Father.
The poetry within On the Wings of a Dove are intended to provide inspiration and support as an arsenal against troubling times and difficult situations, to produce a guiding light on darkened day, and to give one the solace and belief that our Heavenly Father loves each of us, watches over us, and is preparing our place within His Kingdom.
About the Author
Terry Lawrence tinkered with rhyming words and writing at a very young age. At age 12, he even published a small neighborhood newspaper that chronicled the sporting activities of him and his friends as they enjoyed the fun-filled summer months growing up in a small town in Ohio along the majestic Ohio River. His love of basketball and writing followed him through his high school and college years. He graduated from Youngstown State University, which is an explanation why he maintains a collection of over 500 penguins. In 2008 Terry wrote his first book, Journey of Life, followed by his second book, The Right Path Taken, in 2009. As a member of the Academy of American Poets, Washington Poets Association, Oregon Poets Association, the Poetry Society of London, and the Poetry Society of America, Terry is committed to continue writing poetry and the realization of the joy he derives from it. His move from Las Vegas NV to Vancouver WA has significantly contributed to his explosion of poetry, where 300' pine trees, an array of colorful flowers, hummingbirds, and the peaceful surroundings of the picturesque Northwest complement the continued nurturing of his creativity and closeness to God. He believes that his talent is directly from God, and admits that there are many moments when his soul is consumed by the Holy Spirit and his fingers on the keyboard are mere instruments of the Heavenly Father. As much as Terry experiences self-satisfaction from his poetry, by far the greater satisfaction comes from the intent of his poems inspiring others, touching their heart, or helping someone feel the power and glory of the Heavenly Father.
