About the Book

By night, Barry brenner, scuba diver extraordinaire, saves a frantic swimmer from the clutches of a giant octopus. But when he awakes, he is just a bald teenager dealing with feeling different, escaping from bullying, making unlikely friendships, and experiencing first love. Told from the viewpoints of both Barry and the bully, the book gives real insight into both characters.

At first, Barry escapes his tormentor Tommy by retreating into books and fantasies, but things change when he finally stands up to Tommy. After surviving a bank robbery together, the two boys form an unlikely alliance to solve the mysterious disappearance of Tommy's mother.

About the Author

Carol Kasser has a doctorate in education from Temple University and twenty years of teaching experience. She is also the author of ten books which include the textbook Stories we Brought With Us and the children's books I Brought Home a Skunk and Broccoliosaur Stories. As Bubbie the Book Lady, she runs educational programs at schools, libraries, and camps and creates educational DVD's and television programs. Carol's five grandchildren are her inspirations, her critics and her fans. When she is not writing, spending time with her grandchildren, or traveling with her husband Harris, Carol enjoys reading, swimming, and line dancing. Carol and Harris live in Bucks County, PA near her mother and their grandchildren.
