There is a distinct difference in having a relationship with Christ versus having a religion. The most important foundational truth that I wish that one would take away from this book is the need to have a relationship with Christ versus a religion. I am going to give the first three definitions of each word before I expound on this concept. Religion is 1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. 2. is a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects. 3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices. Relationship mean 1. a connection, association, or involvement. 2. a connection between persons by blood or marriage. 3. an emotional or other connection between people. Just in looking at the paragraphs of the definitions you should see where I am going with this. Look at the complexity of the definition of religion and the simplicity of the definition of a relationship. This is key to your walk with Christ.
