America’s Border
The first and foremost project that the government needs to tackle and finish has to be the completion of the fence along the border between the United States and Mexico. This border stretches for 1,969 miles and is an area for the illegals to enter into the United States. At one point there is even a foot bridge crossing the Rio Grande River.
The federal government can use the United States Army Corps of Engineers to manage the project. The project could be divided into sections and bids requested from contractors for each sections. The requirements of any bidding contractor would include the use of American employees. Each contractor would have to submit filings to the affect that they would not use union labor, illegals or green card workers. Removing people from the unemployment roles would be the first priority. This will create a large demand for construction workers that could be recruited from all over America.
This is a huge project that has to be completed before the United States can even think about eliminating the flow of illegals entering our country. When the suggestion was made that Hoover Dam be built the consensus was that it would be impossible. The Hoover Dam is one of the wonders of the world today. The project put thousands of Americans back to work and ultimately provided the electrical power for Las Vegas and many other cities. America is capable of completing any project that it truly wants to. We have the manpower and knowledge to finish the border fence. All we have to do now is convince the representatives in Congress that it is one of the most important pieces of legislation.
The cost of America’s border fence is going to be expensive but the cost and destruction of our country by all of the illegals that are entering every day is much more. The cost of the fence will generate employment and all the money that is spent of the project will flow back into the economy our country. The contractors that are utilized to build the fence will be purchasing the materials from American companies and that will increase manufacturing.
The United States needs to complete the construction of the United States border fence. The construction of the fence has been challenged by the Mexican government, illegal immigrants living in the United States and various Chicano organizations. Their primary objective to the border fence is that agricultural work is one of the many types of work that illegal immigrant’s fill that could not be filled by United States citizens. That is a lame excuse for not wanting the border fence built. American’s have always been able to survive without the help of the illegals. Pay the proper wages and there isn’t any type of work that an American can not perform.
There are estimates of over a million illegal immigrants entering into the United States each year. Border Patrol activity is concentrated around big border cities such as San Diego and El Paso which do have extensive border fencing. This means that the flow of illegal immigrants is diverted into rural mountainous and desert areas, leading to several hundred migrant deaths along the border of those attempting to cross into the United States from Mexico without authorization from the Federal government of the United States.
There was a period of time in the 1990’s when United States Army personnel were stationed along the United States - Mexico border to help stem the flow of illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. These military units brought their specialized equipment such as forward looking infrared devices and helicopters. In conjunction with the United States Border Patrol, they would deploy along the border and, for a brief time, there would be no traffic across that border which was actively watched by "coyotes" paid to assist border crossers. The smugglers and the alien traffickers simply ceased operations over the one hundred mile sections of the border sealed at a time. It was very effective but temporary as the illegal traffic resumed as soon as the military withdrew.
We all know that the use of the military will solve the problem of the illegals crossing into the United States. The question is why won’t the government use the military to stop the flow of in excess of a million illegals per year? What is even more puzzling is how the Director of Homeland Security is so proud of the fact that in the last year they have deported 392,000 illegals. That means we are loosing ground by in excess of 600,000 illegals per year. The United States military could eliminate 100% of the illegals from crossing into the United States until the border fence is completed.
I don’t know much about the “Posse Comitatus” which is hindering the protection of our country. It needs to be repealed immediately. That regulation apparently prohibits the use of our military for securing the borders. This is not in the best interest of the citizens of the United States. Make it go away.
Former Border Patrol personnel have responded to this by saying "Posse Comitatus prohibits the use of troops for domestic law enforcement. Border security is not domestic law enforcement. It is protecting our nation from foreign intruders." They also pointed out that the army patrolled the border for more than 46 years after the passage of the Posse Comitatus act.
In addition, each state in the United States has a National Guard organization that could, in principle, be placed on the border at a state governor's discretion to assist with border security; many states also have a backup to the National Guard called the State Defense Force that could, in an emergency, also be activated for this purpose. However, few governors have done this. Many governors fear a backlash from local businesses and ever increasing communities of Latinos. Arizona and New Mexico have currently declared the counties that border Mexico to be under serious duress caused by uncontrolled illegal migration, thereby enabling governors to deploy National Guardsmen to the international border.
We have the resources available at the state and federal level to combat the illegals that are crossing into our country. It is just amazing that the governments at both levels are not doing anything to stop the flow. The cost to secure our country can not be measured in dollars but in how it is destroying our economy and way of life in America.
Border incursions
In the fiscal year of 2006, there have been twenty-nine confirmed border incursions by Mexican government officials, of which seventeen have been by armed individuals. Since 1996 there have been 253 incursions by Mexican government officials.
The Washington Times has reported that on Sunday, August 3, 2008, Mexican Military personnel who crossed into Arizona from Mexico encountered a U.S. Border Patrol agent, whom they held at gunpoint. The soldiers later returned to Mexico, as backup Border Patrol agents came to investigate.
The start of the border fence in the state of New Mexico--just west of El Paso, Texas, U.S.A.
The border fence would be equipped with motion sensors and electrical stimulus so that if anyone was attempting to scale the fence the nearest border station would know and the agents in the area would be able to respond immediately. The electrical stimulus would be strong enough to knock anyone off the fence that was trying to climb over it. The electrical stimulus could be something similar to a bug zapper.
This is an example of how qualified our President and his sidekick Vice President really are. "V.P. Joe, asks for 6 months of retraining for Cattle Guards!"
CATTLE GUARDS, THIS IS ABOUT AS GOOD AS THEM WANTING TO CHANGE THE LAW OF PHYSICS!
